Supporting a U.S. Defense Agency

Background

Since January 2024, a federal defense agency has partnered with LTC to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for employees across multiple U.S. locations. This partnership underscores the agency’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity within the defense community.

 The Challenge

The agency required support across multiple states—including New York, Colorado, Washington, and Pennsylvania—while also managing urgent, short-notice requests. The need for both on-site and virtual interpreting made flexibility and reliability essential.

 Our Solution

LTC developed and continues to deliver a tailored support model that includes:

  • On-site interpreting at select base locations.
  • Virtual interpreting to extend coverage and ensure access regardless of geography, including FaceTime access to interpreters.
  • Rapid deployment, with requests often filled within one to two hours.

Results

  • Accessibility ensured: Employees received consistent interpreting support for communication, meetings, graduation ceremonies, and training sessions.
  • Operational efficiency: The agency met urgent needs without disrupting daily operations and accommodated recurring scheduling requirements.
  • Collaborative success: Regular feedback strengthened the partnership and enabled continuous improvements.
  • Professional development: Interpreters gained valuable government experience and exposure to specialized terminology.

Looking Ahead

This engagement demonstrates how adaptable language services can strengthen accessibility in the federal space. LTC looks forward to continuing its support of government clients with high-quality, dependable ASL interpreting solutions.
