The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), like a growing number of professional athletic organizations across the US, is excited to see the many diverse faces dominating its events. In order to accommodate such a growing number of culturally diverse athletes, LPGA has recently partnered with Language Training Center (LTC) to ensure all cultural and language needs are met throughout the 2010 season.
LTC recently provided top-notch interpreting services to the LPGA’s culturally and linguistically diverse athletes during the commissioner’s meetings – making them a complete success! At the Commissioner’s Meeting in San Diego, California, LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan gave his charge to the organization and its ladies, who in turn were able to listen in one of five languages—English, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, and Japanese.
Jiyai Shin, Rolex Rankings No.1 player said, “I think LTC has been very good for the LPGA. I feel that it has helped me communicate better. I think they will be a help for many non-english speaking international LPGA players in the future!”
“The LPGA has been looking for the right company to partner with [and] players and staff feel that we have finally found the right solution in partnering with Language Training Center,” Sean Pyun, LPGA Manager of International Development and Member Services explains.
By providing interpreting services to the elite athletes of the LPGA, LTC helps by ensuring the girls are getting relevant information through interpretation and translation services. Both services – verbal and written –help each and every player continue their language development.
This partnership between the LPGA and LTC puts the LPGA at the leading edge as an organization that recognizes the value of using language services to build unity and understanding among its members and fans. The LPGA will continue to stand apart from others due to their commitment to providing language, cultural education, and interpreting/translation opportunities to their elite on and off the course through their partnership with LTC.
