Global Mobility Services

LTC believes that understanding other cultures and languages is a
vital skill that enables corporations and individuals to take part in the
worldwide community. We also understand the pain and financial
costs associated with failed global mobility assignments. Our team
works with your global mobility employee and family to prepare
them both linguistically and culturally for their new lives abroad.

As soon as we receive the authorization, our language training program managers reach out to the students immediately to let them know about their benefits and to schedule an intake meeting with them. Reaching out as soon as possible ensures that the students know they have our support throughout their relocation and that we are here to assist whenever they need us.

In the intake meeting, we talk to your relocating employee about their background and experiences, ask them about their goals for the target language, assess their abilities, and gather their preferences regarding class schedules and locations. The language goals of a student will differ depending on whether they are the relocating employee, their spouse, or their children. As such, we talk to each family member to make sure we are building a program that is completely customized to the individual. (need to add: Every lesson is a language experience waiting to happen. LTC students and instructors go on language focused adventures in their classes based on whatever the student wants to do. Student likes sewing? They go to the fabric store together, go to a sewing class together, etc.)

Audio about Intake Meeting

We even talk to the students about their interests and hobbies to paint a well-rounded picture of them as a person to match them with an instructor, kind of like a match making service. The reason we do this before the classes start is so that we are not wasting valuable training hours to assess them or complete a needs analysis. The other crucial part of gathering this information is that the instructor is not simply a person that meets your employee’s schedule, but someone that is handpicked to work with them. After an LTC intake meeting, they are ready to start day one with a completely customized lesson and the perfect instructor.

While all of our instructors are extremely qualified, that doesn’t mean every instructor is the perfect match for every student. Our instructors have a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, and we use that to select them for a specific student. We believe that matching the student with the best instructor based on who they are as a learner and a person guarantees the effectiveness of the program. If the student is engaged and excited about learning, and the instructor is engaged and excited about educating, they can connect in a way that is meaningful. If everyone is happy working together, then your relocating employee will be invested in their classes, and more likely to complete their training.

Audio about Intake Meeting

Throughout your relocating employees’ training, they receive check-ins and feedback from one of our program managers to ensure that everything is to their satisfaction. LTC’s programs are designed to give students consistent ongoing feedback from their instructor who is always assessing them and adjusting the program to help students make improvements and achieve their goals.

Even the end of their training program is not the end. We want students to become lifelong learners and feel like they can reach out to us for support even after their training hours are formally completed.

Relocation Counselor

“Ewa was crucial in my transition from the US to Germany. She not only took the time to ensure I was learning the correct dialect and colloquialisms of the area to the best of her ability but also was able to answer general questions I had about life in Europe.”

Student in Hamburg

We believe it is imperative that, for students to learn effectively, they must learn language that they will encounter and use in their daily life-- this means bringing in authentic language and culture to every lesson.
LTC understands that students need to be engaged in the language learning process in order to digest and retain what they learn in class. We custom tailor every curriculum to the individual student and their needs and interests.
There is so much more to matching a teacher with a student than experience and education. We look at teaching styles, life experiences, and extracurricular passions to place the best instructor with each specific student in order to make the learning experience as meaningful as it can be. Moreover, all of our program managers are first and foremost educators, so we are in the unique position to understand the key factors that make a successful learning relationship.
We firmly believe lives can be transformed by the power of positive connections and language. We want to ensure every student not only survives but thrives in their new communities when relocating to a foreign country. Every step of the way, LTC is here to support every student, going beyond the scope of traditional language training to assist them with any fundamental needs. A professional athlete- "One of our students suffered from crippling dyslexia, so we paired him with an instructor who specializes in working with students of differing abilities. Over the course of six months working with his instructor, he was able to read a chapter book for the first time in his life at age 30. He also felt comfortable enough to take the driving test- something he thought would never be possible. The instructor contacted the DMV in Minnesota on his behalf and was able to get the DMV to provide him with a reader in a separate room in order to take the test, and he passed!
We believe it is imperative that, for students to learn effectively, they must learn language that they will encounter and use in their daily life-- this means bringing in authentic language and culture to every lesson. Anya- LTC PM and Instructor- "While teaching a Business English class, we would watch a popular business competition reality TV show to familiarize student with common business expressions and vocabulary, while also comparing and analyzing business culture in the USA. Then I'd have them simulate that in class by dividing the men and women into two teams that had to compete in a business challenge. The favorite was going to Trader Joe's to investigate the products and marketing strategies; then they had to pitch a new product to the store manager, who would choose the winner. I remember the students pitching a Korean bibimbap bowl, which they actually sell now!"
LTC understands that students need to be engaged in the language learning process in order to digest and retain (stick) what they learn in class. To accomplish this, we custom tailor every curriculum to the individual student and their needs and interests. Students often come to us burned by academic, mundane, and traditional classes, believing that more language training won't be any more effective. They soon discover the difference the inquiry-based and tailored approach can make! Alex, LTC PM and instructor- "I spent months working with student who was a teenage boy and not really interested in taking more English classes. In our first lesson, I could tell he was obviously playing a video game on a second screen rather than paying attention to the lesson. I began to talk with him about his favorite games, who his favorite streamers were online, and he shared with me that he had aspirations of becoming a game designer in the future. After that lesson, we completely shifted gears and I created a completely customized curriculum for a creative writing project. He created an original idea for an RPG video game, so we discussed game theory and design, analyzed different video game genres, researched various cultures for character design/world building inspiration, and give presentations in class about them. We also practiced conversation skills through writing game dialogue and acting it out, discussing the nuances of the language and how certain tones can convey different meanings, and comparing the differences between written and spoken English."
All of our instructors have the experience and education necessary to teach; however, there is so much more to matching a teacher with a student. We look at teaching styles, life experiences, and extracurricular passions to place the best instructor with each specific student in order to make the learning experience as meaningful as it can be. Moreover, all of our program managers are first and foremost educators who currently teach as well, so we are in the unique position to understand the key factors that make a successful learning relationship. German spouse of an executive- She moved to the USA with very little English ability and was afraid to leave her home without her husband. We found out her love was sewing and making decorations for her home, so we paired her with a teacher who is also a seamstress. Together, they went shopping at the fabric store, learned new words, practiced talking with store employees to get help, checking out her purchases, then went back to her home to work on projects together, talking through them all in English. She was able to learn comfortably doing something she loved, and it never felt like a run-of-the-mill class!
